About Medallion
Local, minority-owned security, built in Oxnard
Medallion Protective Services, Inc. is a minority-owned, full-service security company serving Oxnard and Ventura County. We’re registered with the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (PPO #120875), and we choose to keep our service local and homegrown.
01Our story
From one Oxnard guard to a full-service company
Carlos Real grew up in Oxnard and graduated from Hueneme High School. He started in private security in 2008 as an armed guard, and in 2010 his desire to serve the community led him to open his own security company, which served Ventura County until September 2020.
When the pandemic hit the community hard, he closed that company and started a new one, Medallion Protective Services, with his wife. The goal: expand security services for the public and private sectors across Oxnard and Ventura County.
Today Medallion is a California C corporation with a City of Oxnard business license, an office in Town Square on North Oxnard Boulevard, and a policy built on integrity, credibility and partnership with clients and the community.

Chief Executive Officer
Carlos Real
A lifelong Oxnard resident and Hueneme High School graduate, Carlos has worked in private security since 2008, first as an armed guard and from 2010 running his own Ventura County security company before founding Medallion.
He holds Medallion’s Private Patrol Operator license (PPO #120875) with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, as well as a current guard card, baton permit and tear gas permit, and is certified in CPR and First Aid.
Chief Administrative Officer
Randy Latimer
Randy retired as a Commander after 32 years with the Oxnard Police Department, where he worked extensively in the community, identified critical infrastructure facilities, developed emergency response plans and, as Traffic Sergeant, wrote security and operational plans for city events. As a commander he served as Watch Commander, Professional Standards Commander and Special Projects Commander.
He also owns NRL & Associates, Security Consultants and Event Management, LLC, bringing expertise in crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) and controlled-substance security and compliance to the private sector, including security plans for cannabis retail and cultivation facilities.
Vice President
Mayra Juarez-Real
A lifelong Oxnard resident, Mayra oversees Medallion’s human resources and finances. She has worked in the medical field in Ventura County for more than 19 years and is a licensed vocational nurse (LVN).
She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management, and she is fluent in Spanish.
